The first time is always awkward. The first post, I mean.
There is really no theme to this blog. No, I'm not going to try and sell you Plexus, explain how to date an introvert, or make a quiz to see which Brave Little Toaster character best exemplifies your personality.
This is a blog of pure ramblings- photos, products I like, lessons I've learned, what not to eat on an airplane, etc.
My latest endeavor involves beauty products, and leads to my first confession. I am a beauty product junkie. Hair, makeup, and skin products are all beautiful in my eye (and underneath it). Which is why this Facebook page, Beauty Lies Truth, caught my attention. I found them via their Kickstarter, and was interested in what they had to say. Basically, the FDA is failing us. The European Union has banned 1,373 substances, with the FDA banning a whooping 8, and only 11% of the ingredients in beauty products have been tested for safety.* I mean, I've done a lot of terrible things to my body (falling off horses, Smirnoff Ice, Accutane), so the last thing I need are my beauty products being one step above Lake Springfield.
Beauty products that are better not only for me, but for the environment sounds like a win-win.
I am now a subscriber to a beauty box called Petit Vour, which is basically like Birchbox except all of the beauty samples are vegan & natural.
Before I go on, I guess I should mention that I am not being paid by any of these companies, nor am I getting free products. But, if you'd like to send me free products, go on a head.
My first beauty box has arrived, and I have found quite a gem. It is "cacao-k!" (It is better than ok, but then it would ruin my pun.)
The brand is called "The Little Alchemist" out of Australia, and the product is the Cacao & Banana Face Glow.
Usage instructions say to measure out a tablespoon of power, then mix in a bowl with a little water to create a paste. Leave on face for ten minutes. Being the good little rule follower that I am, I did exactly as the instructions said. I ended up with brown water, and a mess all over my boyfriend's kitchen.
Take #2:
My second go around, I just dumped some powder into my hand while in the bathtub, and used my other hand to slowly sprinkle water, until I made a nice paste. SUCCESS! Baby's butt smooth.
Rubbing chocolate on your body-that's the dream.
